Phil Smith, the World Equestrian Games Ambassador for the 5th Congressional District, will be presenting a program about the event at the Laurel County Public Library on Tuesday, September 14th at 6:00 pm.

A Power Point presentation will provide information about changes in the Kentucky Horse Park for the event, how to purchase tickets, and the impact the games will have on the Kentucky economy.

A question and answer session will follow the showing of a brief video showing the opening ceremonies of the 2006 games, a sample of each of the eight disciplines, and the closing ceremonies.

The event is free, suitable for all ages, and open to the public.

The Laurel County Public Library has the answer to all three of these questions. Come to Game Night on Friday, September 10th from 6-8 pm.

You can bring your favorite board or card game or play one of the library’s. Enjoy such favorites as Uno, Clue, Rook, Hearts, Dominoes, Apples to Apples and many more. Most games are appropriate for ages 10 and older.

The Rally will be at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset from 2:00pm to 5:00pm where they will be drawing a winning ticket for a new 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The Rally is open and free to anyone that wants to stop by. The first 300 people that register on-site will be getting a T-shirt courtesy of TourSEKY.

Benefits of this class include strengthening abdominal and back muscles increasing core strength and offering a variety of ball exercise that can be incorporated into a personal fitness routine.
This class has no aerobic component.

Participants should wear comfortable clothing and athletic shoes. An exercise mat or towel should be brought to class.

The cost for the class is $2, cash only, which can be paid the night of the class. Class size is limited to 25 people so be sure to register early.

The One Mile Fun Run will be held on the track at 8:30 and the 5K will start at 9:00 a.m.

Anyone who currently lives or works in Laurel County may enter the contest to showcase their cooking ability using local foods purchased at the Farmers Market.
Proceeds benefit the United Way and London Downtown.

As you know, the Chamber puts on a “first-class” golf tournament each year with great prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams…not to mention putting contest, closet to the pin and long drive prizes as well. Other prizes include a commemorative T-shirt and goody bag for each player and lots of drawings for door prizes at the end of the tournament.

Participants will receive breakfast items for when you arrive and lunch will be served to each player. (J.R. Smith with Hog Heaven BBQ will be back this year with more of those awesome Rib-eye steak sandwiches!) Beverage and snack carts will, again, make their way through the course on a regular basis
